Acquired Brain Injury

The mission of Speech Works RI is to help you improve your daily life at home, at work, and in your community. Therapy for adults of all ages in the areas of acquired brain injury, aphasia, and cognitive/communication disorders targets speaking, reading, writing, memory, and organization.

I typically begin with an evaluation, including interviews with the client and family, self-report questionnaires, standardized testing, and an informal observation. For clients with acquired brain injury, the evaluation is spread over the course of two sessions.

With a commitment to achieving lasting results, treatment focuses on what you want to be able to do, developing skills and strategies for greater independence in daily life. Families and caregivers are always welcome to attend some or all sessions. Family education and training on how to support carryover of strategies is essential and we dedicate time to make sure everyone has the answers and information they need.
